About Mike

Mike Bayer is an investment counsellor, investigative journalist and free speech activist. After receiving his B.A. from York University in 1992, Mike enjoyed a successful career in the information technology industry, eventually managing a team with sales in excess of $50 million per year.

During those years, he developed a passionate interest in economics, investment management and the Efficient Market Theory. This led to the founding of his own investment firm, Strategic Analysis Capital Management, in 2003, and a second career as a fee-based Fiduciary Wealth Advisor. Subsequently, Mike earned several professional designations, including Certified Financial Planner (2003), Chartered Investment Manager (2007), and a Canadian Securities Institute Fellowship, the FCSI designation (2011).

In 2020, Mike founded Free Speech Media (free-speech.ca) when he saw the existential threat posed by growing authoritarianism both domestically and globally. To defend the ideals of freedom, liberty and limited government, he ran as a federal candidate for the People's Party of Canada in 2021 and as a provincial candidate in Ontario for the New Blue party in 2022.
